All of us have moments when we make the wrong decisions; do the wrong thing; follow a choice that leads to sin.
It is what we do when we discover that we have done wrong that counts with the Lord. He already KNOWS we are not perfect! It is no surprise to God. That is why He had His Son, Jesus Christ, come and live a perfect life, die and rise again. God had that happen so that we could understand that we can ALWAYS be restored to what has been lost because of the obedience of Jesus Christ. (Romans 4:7-8)
“Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”
Our depth of belief is vital when we get in a predicament that can and often does cause us to fall into sin. NO ONE IS EXEMPT FROM FALLING INTO SIN!
A Relationship with the Lord is key in our lives because that FAITH in Jesus that He WILL help us and free us from these situations, is what keeps us on track!
The Bible says that ‘Abraham BELIEVED God and it was credited to him as righteousness’. What this means is that when Abraham was against the wall he chose God and his faith carried him through in the tough times.
When we are against the wall in a situation are we believing God or are we willing to go through the situation without God?
The blessing comes through believing that God will make a way through the tough situation and our FAITH will be increased by believing He will! Once our faith is increased it makes it easier the next time we are in a situation to say, ‘I am BELIEVING GOD’.
What happens when we fall is that we don’t believe God and we do not choose Him. This usually brings on a whole set of circumstances that could have been avoided.
Many, many people get here in their lives and once they have fallen; think that God isn’t with them anymore and their path doesn’t include God any more. The shame of the situation keeps them from seeking God and they just continue to spiral downward.
The truth is that God has never moved! Once we become a believer God says that He will never leave us or forsake us. He stays right by us waiting for us to choose Him and return to Him and believe Him again. All we have to do is ask forgiveness for sin and turn our life back toward Him. He then begins to teach us all over again how to love Him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 says “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
To the one who makes the wrong choice and falls into sin; this is what God says in Deuteronomy 32:10-12 “In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions. The Lord alone led him; no foreign god was with Him.”
Our wounded souls that are tired and weary from sin are only a heartbeat away from God. All we have to do is realize it and turn to Him. He is NOT LEAVING US! In the passage above it says that we are the ‘apple of God’s eye’! God has a never ending love for His own.
God DOES CARE and is waiting for us to return to Him when we fall. There is freedom there and when our faith is built on turning toward the Lord it should be strengthened! Is your faith being strengthened today?
Galatians 5:1 says “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
When we finally taste the freedom of Christ; we should develop a hunger for Him that keeps on the right path and these moments when we fall become fewer and fewer. This all hangs on an alive relationship with Jesus that develops every single day!
Just like with lifting weights or running we become stronger and stronger the more we do it! A relationship with the Lord only works if we are practicing it every single day; sometimes day by day; and sometimes it has to be moment by moment!
Explosions happen when we refuse to turn to the Lord. Satan begins to tell us that we don’t matter to God. He uses our minds to help defeat our heart.
Some of the ways Satan tries to keep us from God and what God says:
© Does God care? How many times have we asked ourselves this question? God does care for us. In fact He cared enough to send His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us and make a way for us to be with Him forever! God does care for us! We are the ‘apple of His eye’.
© Is God listening to me? Does He hear me? YES! In 2 Samuel 22:7 “In my distress I called to the LORD; I called out to my God. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came to His ears.”
© I am worthless and fail continually! No man has the ability to tell us we are worthless! Only God knows our hearts! Jeremiah 17:9-10 says “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind to reward a man according to his conduct.” Satan plants the thought we are worthless in our minds to defeat us. God knows our heart and wants to lead us to Him!
© It is too late for me to love God. It is NEVER too late to love God and turn toward Him! He is always waiting and loving us. His GRACE is poured out to all mankind. We have to choose Him! Isaiah 40:28-31 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” It is never too late to turn to God!
© I have done terrible things! God can’t pick me up when I fall. God died for us because He loved us so much! NOTHING we could ever do will change that. The sad part will be those who heard but could not believe. We have EVERY REASON TO BELIEVE! Start today believing that God loves you and will ALWAYS be there for you.
There is no situation that we could ever fall into that will keep us from Jesus. All it takes is the power in us to acknowledge our sin and turn toward the Lord and ask forgiveness! God wants us to come home to Him today. Don’t wait to enrich your relationship with the Lord!
Falling doesn’t keep God from us; not believing Him and choosing Him is what keeps us from Him. The Bible says that if we humble ourselves and seek Him and turn from our wicked ways He will hear us.
